1972 BMW R75/5 SWB #2985392. Black, All Matching VIN! 18 Ltr.”Toaster” Tank. New Paint job. Powder coated chassis. Inspect & reseal motor top end and transmission. New Clutch, tires, battery, mufflers. Progressive rear shocks. This beautiful R75/5 has been extensively Rebuilt / Reconditioned; MUCH more than a BMW Factory recommended Major 10K Service, slightly less than a complete “Restoration”. The motor ran well and transmission performed properly, but we tore both down for close inspection and resealing. While working on the motor top end, we gave the cylinders a light hone and new rings for better compression sealing. The combustion chambers, valves, and piston heads were de-carboned. The motor double row timing chain and tensioner were replaced. The rear crankshaft main seal and oil pump O’ring replaced. The clutch was cleaned and inspected, and we decided to replace it with New. A motor ground upgrade kit was installed. The carburetors were rebuilt, including new floats and float needles, and a Bing Vacuum take-off kit were installed to make them easier to balance & synchronize using a mercury gauge. New plug wires with metal BMW plug caps installed. Both wheels had new wheel bearings installed, properly shimmed, and grease repacked. The spokes adjusted and rims re-trued. New Dunlop tires were mounted and balanced. The front forks were rebuilt & new fork seals and 13 rib rubber boots installed. The steering neck bearings were both replaced. Progressive Suspension shocks were installed with original OEM aluminum shock covers. The entire frame, subframe, swingarm, center stand, and battery box were powder coated gloss black. The fuel tank and fenders were repainted in gloss black. We decided to leave off the Factory pinstriping, New Stainless battery covers were installed and the Chevrons painted Satin Black. A new steering neck and seat lock set were installed. The bike was assembled with a 382-piece Stainless Steel bolt / nut / washer kit. New throttle cables and hand grips were installed, and new cable boots installed as needed. A pair of new BMW Factory short stem mirrors installed. New rubber Factory round foot peg rubbers. A premium reproduction R75/5 SWB seat with chrome grab rail installed. New reproduction original “cigar tip” mufflers were installed. A new battery with 2 new rubber hold downs was installed. The bike has a tool tray, but no tool kit.
