The SWB designation stands for "Short Wheel Base" The 1970 to mid-1973 Models were all SWB, which makes them slightly shorter in overall length, and enables them to easily handle quick directional changes of a twisty road. The entire bike is like it was originally built in the factory, except the mufflers are updated to the two years newer style, and the exhaust headers were upgraded to a new Chrome set made by MAC. A black period correct Luftmeister engine Guard set was installed. This is another BMW that we have done an end-to-end, inside-out, rehabilitation to. First, we did a Major 10K Service. The Carburetors were rebuilt. New steering neck bearings were installed, the front fork was rebuilt, and New Original 13 Rib Boots were installed. A new battery and straps were installed. New Dunlop tires were mounted & balanced. A matching Lock set was installed in the Steering Stem lock and the Seat lock. The photos tell the story; everything is in Very Good, or better condition. The commonly named "Toaster" configuration used by BMW for only 2 years, has the Beautiful Chrome fuel tank side covers, as well as the Chrome battery covers, which makes for a very striking and instantly recognizable appearance.
